Our Ethos & Values

Our school is underpinned by a simple shared belief: we are one HASN community.

This means that we believe staff, students, parents and carers succeed and thrive together. Whether it's how we expect students to behave, or how we approach our work as teachers, we know that working collaboratively as a team is the best way too ensure our community shines.

We know that the parents and carers of our community expect nothing less than the best opportunities for their children. Through our curriculum, ethos and values, every child at HASN is given the opportunity to find, pursue and achieve their dreams and ambitions. We do this through exceptional teaching, the highest of behaviour expectations, and through teaching every young person every day how to live and breathe our school values.

In order to achieve our ethos, we know that it takes work. We get there through living and breathing our school values: respect, responsibility, kindness and endeavour. These values underpin everything we do, and also act as the shared foundation for our behaviour policy.

Our message is clear: If you are kind, show respect, take responsibility and endeavour, you'll be a huge success at HASN.

What these values mean in practice is outlined below:

RESPECT	We accept and value others	We consider how our actions might impact on other people We respect other people's property We communicate with other people politely	We listen to the adult/s in the room We follow instructions first time We respect that everyone has a right to disruption free learning
RESPONSIBILITY	We own our choices	We follow community safety rules We put our litter in the bins provided We only eat in designated eating areas We use the designated entrances and spaces and follow the one way systems, to help keep the school calm and safe for everyone After school, we follow curfew rules and travel safely	We arrive to class on time and get started on the learning We arrive fully equipped for learning We wear the correct uniform We take ownership of our space and resources and ensure anything we use is put back before we leave
KINDNESS	We look after our community	We look out for others, and report anything that we're concerned about We help those in need We make sure that we're never a bystander: we call out bullying, discrimination and unacceptable behaviour We think about the way our choices might make others feel	We are kind and considerate of other learners We listen attentively to others when they're speaking, and encourage our peers. We never put others down. We work together and help one another to succeed
