Key Stage Four Parents’ Book Club
Read With Us!
Dear Parents / Carers,
What better way to spend the run-up to Christmas than enjoying a Christmas classic for the first time or re-visiting an old favourite?
Over the next 5 weeks, the English Department will be running an online Book Club for every parent or carer of a Year 10 or 11 student to offer you the opportunity to read one of their GCSE texts and discuss it with your child, us, and each other, chapter by chapter (or stave by stave).
All you need to do is:
1. Purchase a copy of ‘A Christmas Carol’. These are available from our school library for £2 or can be found cheaply (online PDF versions are free) and easily online.
2. Read one chapter a week.
3. Visit our online discussion each week to share your thoughts as the plot thickens and Scrooge’s supernatural journey continues.
You do not need to be an expert in Victorian Gothic fiction to take part! This is a great opportunity to support your child in their revision of a GCSE text, share your thoughts on a brilliant story, and ask us any questions that may arise as you read.
We look forward to hearing your thoughts on Stave 1 when our discussion forum opens on Friday 15th November.
