Government & Politics

Why we study Government & Politics
Why we study Government & Politics
Politics shapes everyday life in the UK and globally, influencing decisions about healthcare, education, the economy, rights and freedoms. Studying Politics helps students develop critical thinking, debate and communication skills, while learning how power is exercised and challenged in democratic systems. We study the structure of Politics in the United Kingdom and the United States, the key ideologies that shape and motivate political discourse, and institutional comparison between two of the world’s leading democracies. Politics also prepares young people to become informed, active citizens, able to engage thoughtfully with political debates and participate confidently in democratic processes.
