Become creative, critical, independent visual thinkers
Why We Study Art
Education in visual arts is fundamental to the aesthetic, physical, emotional, intellectual, and social growth of the individual. It defines and deepens human experience in ways that are both real and magical. We cultivate a form of literacy by developing intuition, reasoning, and imagination, leading to a unique form of communication. We endeavour to support our students in becoming creative, critical, independent, visual thinkers, enabling our students to develop unique ways of knowing, doing, and belonging in both a local and global community.
What studying Art is like at HASN
In Art at HASN, students explore a range of media and techniques inspired by diverse artists and movements. They use research to inform their work, analysing artists and creating pastiches to develop their own ideas.
Students build technical skills using the formal elements of art while reflecting on their work and that of others. In a supportive environment with access to specialist materials, they are encouraged to be creative, confident and develop their individual artistic voice.
