Psychology

Why We Study Psychology
We study psychology to better understand human behaviour. It helps us to develop a critical awareness of the self and others. Through developing an understanding of one’s own behaviour, it empowers the individual to take control of their own actions. We study Psychology to understand, predict and even influence human behaviour.
What studying psychology is like at HASN.
In Psychology, students explore topics such as Social Influence, Memory, Attachment and Mental Health, alongside approaches, biopsychology and research methods. They study key theories and research to understand different explanations of behaviour.
Lessons include extended writing, exam-style questions and discussion, helping students develop analytical and critical thinking skills. Students evaluate viewpoints, considering the strengths and limitations of theories.
In the second year, students study Issues and Debates, along with optional topics such as Cognition and Development, Schizophrenia and Forensic Psychology.
