Drama

Why We Study Drama
We study drama to nurture creativity and to develop empathetic, confident and self-reflective beings that seek to analyse and question the world around them. We study its form and structure in order to discover how humanity has expressed emotions, relationships and stories throughout history and to gain the skills required to manipulate, educate and entertain an audience.
What Studying Drama is Like at HASN
In Drama at HASN, students learn through practical work, collaboration and reflection. Lessons involve creating, rehearsing and performing in groups, using voice, movement and character to communicate ideas. Students also study scripts and practitioner techniques to inspire their own performances while building creativity, confidence and resilience.
Discussion and evaluation are central. Students give and receive feedback, analyse performances and use subject-specific vocabulary. Written work includes evaluations, character analysis and responses to theatre.
Drama extends beyond lessons with clubs, performances and school productions, alongside workshops to develop skills and confidence. A supportive, inclusive environment ensures all students can express themselves, with teamwork and creativity at the heart of learning.
