Here at Harris Beulah Hill we encourage all students to read regularly; we know this helps students to broaden their vocabulary, develop empathy, helps them with concentration, and sparks imagination. Want to support your child in reading? There are some great tips here... https://t.co/jC7vJ4TZjN

Exam Results 2018-19

*Not Current*

2019 has been another successful year of exam results for

Harris Academy South Norwood.

Key Stage Four:

In summary:

  • 60% of students achieved at least five GCSEs including English and maths;
  • 78% of students achieved a Grade 4 pass or higher in English and 62% did so in maths;
  • The EBacc remains strong and considerably higher than last year’s national average at 30%.

58 students took triple science, with 9% of entries achieving the new ‘super’ Grade 9, which is equivalent to an A**. 7% of English entries were awarded a Grade 9.

Bucking the unfortunate national decline in students opting to study a foreign language, the reverse is happening at Harris South Norwood. Nearly 300 Year 11 students studied at least one modern foreign language GCSE:

  • 80% of students who opted for Mandarin, a highly challenging language to master, secured a Grade 5 or above;
  • 9 students achieved the highest possible Grade 9 in Spanish.

We would like to congratulate everyone who received results this morning and to single out the following members of our school:

  • Nasira and Alfie both gained an incredible 6 Grade 9s; both will be among the highest achieving students in England;
  • Along with Nasira, both Alicia and Jearnen gained Grade 9s in both English Language and English Literature and have strong futures ahead of them in the study of English. 12 students gained Grade 8 or better in English Literature and Language.
  • The future of engineering seems strong, too, at Harris South Norwood with Alliyah, Mohamed, and Alexander each getting Grade 9s in both Physics and Mathematics
  • Elected Croydon Deputy Youth Mayor, Shea, gained a remarkable seven Grade 8s and three Grade 9s alongside her peers of whom 16 other students gained a full set of top grades at GCSE (Grade 7 or better).

  • 37.4% of students achieved Grade 5 or above in English and Maths
  • 57.5% of students achieved Grade 4 or above in English and Maths
  • 74.5% of students entered the EBacc, with 29.6% of entrants achieving it. The average points score was 4.11.
  • 99% of our leaving year 13 students are in employment and education
