Business & Enterprise

Within this hub we are expected to lead in creating and developing a positive learning culture within the Academy.  Enterprise skills are taught and delivered not only within our subjects but across the curriculum; there is a key emphasis on demonstrating Commitment (to learning), Optimism and Resourcefulness.  These are the key skills identified by the Business community as those which students need to develop in order to be successful in their future careers.  These key skills are also further developed through activities run by our hub on Flexible Fridays.  For example we collaborated with NatWest Bank to run a project in which all Year Groups learnt how to work as a team to produce a tender for a specific event.  They had to produce advertising materials, sample menus and costing. The most enterprising groups received prizes to in recognition of the skills developed.

We are also the lead hub in Behaviour for Learning and students are expected to demonstrate the highest standards of behaviour. It is important that students know how achievement is linked to having a positive ethos within the classroom where there is a safe learning environment.   All tutors within the hub work in a positive way with students to ensure that they are on target to achieve their full potential.
