Student Leadership at HASN
One of the Academy’s aims is that our young people are enabled to give their opinions and suggestions on Academy life in an open, secure and constructive way. We believe that Student Leadership is about outcomes (e.g. academic achievement) and young people being active agents in their experience of education.
Following interviews, we are proud to have our first ever Student Leadership Group (based on the structure of the Academy Leadership Group) which consists of Post 16s and Year 11s. In addition, we have appointed students as Student Forum Reps; these students will hold Surgery Days (tutors will inform students of the dates) when other students across the Academy can see them to talk about issues and have their voice heard. This information will then be cascaded to the Academy Leadership Group.
We will now begin recruitment in other leadership roles such as Arts Ambassadors, Enterprise Leaders, Sports Leaders, Tour Guides and Academy Publicity Members.
Congratulations to all successful students – we look forward to working with them in upcoming projects. In the true spirit of Student Leadership, please watch out for articles in our next Insight edition, written by students themselves.
