Peer Mentoring a Success!
You may already know that the Academy has a Peer Mentoring programme with mentors being recruited in every year group but do you really know what it’s about? Most people will say that it’s about students helping students with their problems and it is! It is also about positive relationships and developing the Academy community.
Finding a mentor is easy, as they wear a blue "Mentor" badge and can be found around the Acaedmy getting involved in all different kinds of activities. These include supporting in the library, on Monday and Tuesday breaktimes, running a ‘Pamper Parlour’ on Fridays at the hair and beauty salon and teaming up with Mr. Wright, our basketball coach, to run a basketball club. They are also working with Ms Fennell in delivering a "Glee" club held on a Wednesdays for students in year 7/8. Finally Post-16 peer mentors are regularly visiting the year 7/8 lunch to develop relationships with the younger years
