GCSE Music

“Music is what life sounds like.” Eric Olson

Study GCSE Music and life will begin to sound a little different!

Music GCSE will  help you learn more about the music you love already and open your eyes to a world of music you didn’t know existed.

Music GCSE is an exciting and engaging course that will develop your confidence, creativity and expression through exciting performance and composition projects.

You will study a wide variety of composers, artists and musical traditions which will help you relate to many other cultures around the world and become  familiar with the ‘inner language’ of music.

You will never listen to a piece of music in the same way again!

How will I be assessed?

You will be assessed across three different units: performing, composing and listening to music. You performance and composition will be assessed by throughout the course and your listening assessment will be an exam at the end of year 11.

How will GCSE music help me in the future?

A musical qualification is also recognised as a valuable asset in today’s job market applicable to many career options particularly  in media, marketing, and other creative industries. Employers also understand that working as a part of a musical ensemble requires commitment, dedication and excellent teamwork skills.
