Music to My Ears

Harris Academy launched their very first Performing Arts week in October of this year. Between the performing and visual arts subject teams alongside dedicated students we were able to put on a variety of activities throughout the Academy. Stretching from workshops, open classes, Rap competitions, talent show and valuable links with professionals.

 

On the 18th October Harris Academy South Norwood hosted their very first Music Recital for the year 9 and 10 GCSE groups. Students were given the task to prepare a 3-minute performance of a song of their choice and perform as part of the week to parents and friends of the students.

Throughout the week the Music department hosted their very own Rap competition for all year groups and even started the tradition of bands busking to launch the entire week. On top of all this students were preparing for the finals of our very own ‘So you think you have talent’. This was a real success and a new star of South Norwood was born.
