Year 13 Prom Night

Black ties and stunning Evening Dresses filled the room as we celebrated the Year 13 Certificate of Achievement Awards on Friday May 21st. The young men and women who attended their leaving celebration shone, the speeches in praise of their accomplishments overflowed and parents and guests gleamed with pride. We were all entertained by our own talented students and were delighted to see Alan Bryant in a drum solo and Charlie Pullen on vocals with Chris Wright [from Merton] on guitar. Awards were given for best in subject and best in tutor group for each of the three sites and the event climaxed with Trophies for the Best Work Experience, Peter Ede. Most Improved Ayesha Bungchee. Harris Post 16 Citizen of the Year, Catherine Manargadoo and finally Student of the Year Nathaniel Nelson-Roberts.

After the cheers, applause and flash photography we all left on coaches to enjoy the much awaited Prom. The Evening was such a warm and enjoyable event with dinner and dancing until midnight, tears and laughter as students said their goodbyes and reminisced over their years of schooling... it was a wonderful atmosphere of joy and celebration and it was a pleasure to be there to witness the scenes. The final leaving rituals culminated in a staff and student BBQ, cooked by our year 10 Btec Catering students on Friday 28th of May. More awards were given out, some less formal, including ‘most likely to need an alarm clock’, and food and stories were shared alike. Congratulations to all the Year 13 in completing their courses here at South Norwood and across the Federation. We wish you all the luck in the world in your final exams and please keep in touch and tell us about your experiences at university and at work. We know you will all do well in whatever you choose.
