Why study GCSE Business Studies?

If the answer is yes to any of these questions then Business Studies is the GCSE for you!

Course Outline

You will cover a range of topics in relation to both small businesses and large businesses including starting a small business or the different type of business organisations, finance, marketing, people and operational management.

These topics will be covered in lessons in preparation for the two examination. The controlled assessment with be 5-8 hours of research based on the theory learnt in class followed by a three hour write up of these findings under controlled conditions. You will also develop a range of skills including presentation, communication, problem solving and leadership.

Unit 1 - Starting a Small Business Examination 60 Marks 1 Hour Examination 40%
Unit 2 - Growing as a Business Examination 60 Marks 1 Hour 35%
Unit 3 - Investigating Business Control Assessment 40 Marks 25%

Required skills and attributes

You are required to be committed to your learning and your revision of the topics. You are required to work well in teams and have good communication and presentation skills. Good numeracy and good literacy skills are required.

Future pathways

Business Studies GCSE can be useful for absolutely every job. Business Studies is particular relevant if you want work in the Human Resources, Marketing and Finance department of either a small or large business. It is also relevant if you want to work as an accountant, stoke broker, recruitment consultant or be an entrepreneur and set up your own business.

Business Studies is useful if you want to study Business Studies, Accounts or Economics A Level or Business BTEC at Level 3.
