HASN Art Department offers you the chance to express yourself...

• Experimenting and taking risks with your work?

 

If you answered yes to any of the above, then GCSE Art and Design is the ideal subject for you.

 

How is it assessed?

The course is divided up into two units. In unit one you will create a portfolio of your own work based on the work of famous artists. Unit 2 encourages you to unleash your creativity and discover your own style This unit concludes with you creating a final artefact which you will display in your own art exhibition at the end of the course.

Taking Art GCSE will develop skills which could enable you to enter careers in design, graphics, marketing, product development  and many areas within the arts. It also prepares you for any further art study.

 

Acceptance onto the GCSE Art Course will be subject to a successful interview and portfolio submission.
Interviews will take place after school on Monday 10th June and Tuesday 11th June.

Students will be notified of specific dates and times of interviews following submission of the options form.
All students wishing to take art will be required to attend an interview and bring a portfolio to this interview.


Your portfolio will be your sketchbook plus any examples of additional art work you have completed in art club, during innovation weeks or in your spare time.
